Christmas Bible Reading: Focusing on Jesus’ Return

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
- John 3:16

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
Christmas Day is coming! Maybe you are busy with Christmas preparations, but please do not forget to quiet our heart before God and meditate on God’s love and grace.
Whenever I read this verse, I am so touched in my heart, feeling that God loves us too much. At the same time, it reminds me that 2000 years ago, in order to redeem us from sin, God personally became flesh and came to earth. He is our Savior, Lord Jesus. He lived among us for thirty-three and a half years, and was nailed onto the cross in the end, completing the redemption of all mankind. The Lord Jesus became man’s sin offering and forgave all our sins, so that we are no longer condemned to death for breaking the law; we are able to come before God and pray to God, enjoy rich grace and blessings of the Lord. Plus, the Lord also gave us wonderful hopes—we will be raptured into the kingdom of heaven by Him and gain eternal life He has brought us when He comes again in the last days. This is God’s great love to us.
Nowadays, it is the period of the last days and is the most critical moment for us to welcome the second coming of Jesus. We are all concerned about when He will return and how to welcome Him. Actually, God loves us most and He knows our needs and difficulties best. Only when I study the Bible and gain the enlightenment and guidance of the Lord do I know that the Lord Jesus has already told us about the way. He said, “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him” (Matthew 25:6). “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth” (John 16:12-13). “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelation 3:22). “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20). Obviously, when the Lord comes again in the last days, He will express the truth, speak to the churches, utter words to knock at our doors and to call to His sheep. If we want to welcome Him, we should seek and investigate like the wise virgins when hearing someone testifying, “Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him.” If when we hear the word of the Bridegroom, we can recognize that it is the word of God and is the truth, and welcome the Lord, we will be raptured before God’s throne, attend the wedding feast of the Lamb, and gain God’s love.
In this special day, I sincerely hope all the brothers and sisters who love the truth and long for the appearance of the Lord are able to be vigilant to welcome the Lord and hear the voice of God like the wise virgins, so as to be raptured before God, attend the feast with the Lord, and attain the Lord’s promise to us—entering the kingdom of heaven and gaining eternal life.
